Actually, today I thought about asking you about any president you had some admiration for during the past one hundred years. I always enjoy reading your posts. I find the posts about presidential polices especially interesting. It may seem naive to many but I thought most presidents tried their best to help our country especially in foreign affairs not to just do what the political party wanted. I may have disagreed with the policies, but I thought the president had a different agenda. It does seem to me that the last twenty years have been different though. Do not know how the country can become fiscally stable and act with at least some harmony in the future?
As you might remember. I think of you as an economic historian and would like to hear your view of financial stability and living in harmony. It seems our country has to more centrists to survive. I am struck by the cost of day care which amounts to about 15,000 annually. Back in the eighties, it was about 4000 annually .I was at CVS the other day, the supervisor had to work 12-14 hour days because of employment issues and her husband had to close his deli/restaurant due to his inability to find suitable employees
I wondered how the Eisenhower and Kennedy periods were different than today other than the US was on the gold standard then.
