The FTDs, if legitimate, were most likely initiated by Ionic Ventures LLC.

Ionic is able to buy shares at a discount. When a stock is in a death spiral (see LGIQ) it makes good business sense to short now and buy back later cheaper and at a discount. The FTDs will be "delivered" when Ionic purchases stock via the Prospectus.
