“Brilacidin showed promising treatment effects”

Not a lie.

http://www.ipharminc.com/press-release/2022/3/7/innovation-pharmaceuticals-reports-additional-findings-based-on-review-of-brilacidin-phase-2-covid-19-trial-results-and-compassionate-use-cases

Inflammatory biomarkers and viral load biomarkers both showed improvement in the Brilacidin arm vs placebo. So it is certainly promising. Promising enough to matter for our stock? Probably not. But it is technically promising compared to placebo.

Furthermore "promising" is not a true/false testable statement. In order for a statement to be a lie it must be demonstrably false. "Promising" means different things to different people. You and I might think "promising treatment effects" would warrant additional study and success. Leo might think "promising treatment effects" means promising enough for an other cash raise to secure his IPIX pension..er salary.

Am I at the point where I think Leo is either shady or incompetent? Yes (leaning toward a bit of both).

Not criminal though.
