EnWave expands footprint with commercial license in Japan and U.S. biopharmaceutical agreement

EnWave Corporation CEO Brent Charleton joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the company has signed a commercial license agreement with Hokkai Yamato Foods Japan, a leading producer of processed foods such as soups, furikake, and ochazuke. As part of the agreement, Hokkai Yamato has acquired a 10kW Radiant Energy Vacuum (REV™) machine to drive product development and support early-stage commercial production in Japan. This license grants Hokkai Yamato exclusive rights to use EnWave’s patented REV™ technology for the production of various food products within Japan. In return, Hokkai Yamato will pay royalties to EnWave, consistent with existing licensing agreements. EnWave will work closely with Hokkai Yamato to optimize product development and ensure long-term commercial success. In addition to expanding its presence in the Japanese food sector, EnWave has also signed a master service agreement with BioTechnique, a U.S.-based pharmaceutical contract manufacturer. This agreement lays the groundwork for BioTechnique to evaluate EnWave’s REV™ dehydration technology as a potential alternative to freeze-drying in biopharmaceutical applications. As part of the collaboration, BioTechnique will conduct paid testing of several liquid pharmaceutical products, drying them in vials using pilot-scale REV™ machinery at EnWave’s Innovation Center in Delta, British Columbia. Alpha HPA eyes global demand with stage 2 facility

Alpha HPA Ltd Managing Director Rob Williamson talked with Proactive at the AIM Small and Midcap conference about how the company is redefining aluminum purification through its novel solvent extraction technology. Alpha HPA is producing high-purity aluminum materials for advanced industries such as semiconductors, lithium-ion batteries, direct lithium extraction, and LED technologies. Williamson explained that while solvent extraction has been used in industries like copper and rare earths, Alpha HPA is the first to apply it to aluminum purification, allowing for significantly reduced energy input and improved sustainability. Williamson said, “We can produce our materials at a 70% lower carbon footprint compared to incumbent manufacturers.” This aligns with growing global demand for cleaner technologies and supports the energy transition. The company recently signed a letter of intent with a customer in the semiconductor market, targeting an alloy used in polishing silicon carbide wafers. The product is 50% more efficient than alternatives, and Williamson noted the Stage 2 facility, currently under construction, is expected to have 10,000 tonnes of annual capacity to meet rising demand. BluGlass talks quantum sensing & commercial wins

BluGlass Head of Corporate and Investor Relations Stefanie Winwood talked with Proactive at the AIM's Small and Midcap Conference about the company’s work in gallium nitride (GaN) laser technology and its growing role in quantum sensing, computing, and defense applications. Winwood explained that gallium nitride is a compound semiconductor that can conduct electrons significantly faster than traditional silicon. BluGlass is one of a few companies globally producing visible lasers using GaN, a technology that is crucial in precision applications such as post-GPS navigation and quantum computing. “BluGlass is leading the market in the precision applications and these precision applications are the ones that are growing more rapidly,” Winwood said.
