First thing you need to do is learn the difference between a halt and an SEC suspension. They are completely different things.

Generally for listed stocks and stocks trading on Canadian exchanges halts are welcomed and are a good thing....stocks are halted pending news and 9 times out of 10 it's because the news is good.

So no, generally a short would crap if the stock he was short on was halted, especially if it was a miner.
