Their patent should be worth a good bit and is the key to this investment. Take a look at Ford Pro Telmetrics (https://fordpro.com/en-us/telematics/). From this website the services seem to be metric driven. Meaning users can view the data collected. The problem with this approach is that there is too much data for a human to consume and understand properly.

Here is the blurb for their feature called 'Driver Behavior Insights': "At the wheel of every vehicle in your fleet is a driver. Driver behavior insights put you in the passenger seat, delivering the kinds of observations — like harsh braking or acceleration — that can help improve driver performance and safety on the road."

So as a fleet owner I can see that Tom is a shorter braking distance than Mary but Mary has a harder acceleration and Mary also tends to drive 10% over the posted speed limit while Tom only drives 7% over.
Who is the safer driver. No one can accurately answer that without significant analysis. Maybe on average Tom's braking distance is shorter, but maybe Mary has 50% more times that she has a hard break event (like suddenly stopping because of danger).

Someone looking at low level raw data via a dashboard is going to get stressed out and miss things. With tons of data we need it translated into a accurate complete picture. IGENs patent obviously fills a much needed capability.

Wouldn't Ford's product seem much more attractive if they could advertise IGEN's capability? They wouldn't have to call it 'Insights' indicating the person monitoring has to do some thinking an interpretation they can call it 'Driver Behavior Scoring'

""At the wheel of every vehicle in your fleet is a driver. Driver behavior scoring put you in the passenger seat armed with the power of the cloud to evaluate the drivers performance. Access powerful algorithms in real-time that process telemtric data — like harsh braking or acceleration — to develop a normalized unique signature or score assessing each drivers performance and risk"

IGEN is in the process of estimating the value of the patent. Without that in hand Chan cannot entertain any offers to purchase the company. Once he has that he will be open to hearing bids. Wouldn't you want to be the one company that can advertise the intelligent driver assessment over just putting raw data in a dashboard type application?
