And I just go a step farther and think we should treat Ukraine as a NATO country....

Perhaps we are. Think Latvia. Would Biden or Europe risk WWIII or Nuclear Holocaust over Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia? Not likely and I think Biden hopes he will not have to find out, after all the shouting about protecting/defending our NATO allies.
