Interesting thread Investolator

Ted's teachings from over 50 yrs ago definitely apply today. I have coded his logic (ie my interpretation) with some added filters to generate a list of securities to stalk and/or invest in. This process can filter a database of approximately 45k symbols via Norgate database, into 568 candidates as of yesterday. From here, it's a manual process that's more of an art. This is why his process works now and will continue since it cannot be fully automated.

Personally I took a basket approach and have been holding and adding since late Feb 2022. Currently I am holding 49 positions. One other trick I have added was Relative strength (NOT RSI) where you can filter candidates vs SP500. I am seeing a good amount of outperformance in beaten down names where many are energy, material and pharmaceutical companies. What's interesting, is that some energy names have been outperforming (relative to sp500) since July 2021 (WTI was $40).

So far I am seeing 0.84% since late Feb 2022, which I am pleased with vs sp500 -1.40%. The beta of this portfolio is 1.52 and I have been hedging with $VXX calls in case of a 10 sigma event. So my actual return is better at 3%.
