In Sept 2021 (last year), Kirkland (now AEM) shock the industry by announcing a maiden M and I resource of over 10 million ounces, and now 6 months later they have added:
"Of the [THIS DAY ANNOUNCED] 14,718,000 ounces of open-pit M&I mineral resources, a total of 386.5 million tonnes at 0.98 g/t for 12,214,000 ounces were established using a 0.50 g/t cut-off grade (including 22.8 million tonnes at 1.68 g/t for 1,231,000 ounces of measured mineral resources and 363.7 million tonnes at 0.94 g/t for 10,983,000 ounces of indicated mineral resources) with 185.5 million tonnes at 0.42 g/t for 2,505,000 ounces of low-grade mineral resources established using cut-off grades between 0.35 – 0.50 g/t. Under previous mine plans, the low-grade resources represented tonnes expected to be mined as waste, whereas they will now be stockpiled and processed in later years. The Company expects to convert a significant percentage of the increased M&I mineral resources into mineral reserves as it works to complete a new production plan, expected to be released in the second quarter of 2022."
I bet we get 20 million measured and indicated. Barrick goes crazy when they can replace reserves and add a million more new ounces. AEM gonna add 15 million more MINEABLE RESERVE ounces in just several months from now, Q2, and this does not include other sections of deposit the company says runs just adjacent for over 5 more kilometers, and this further does not include the rich intercepts at the other exploration mine sites that are already connected to the existing mines, which are a baker's dozen. 15 millions ounces of fresh reserves from just one spot!....
The new mine plan at Detour should be about 1.3 million ounces of production PER, from just one mine, DETOUR. Think BIG, Plan Enormous.
What appears to be perhaps The biggest gold deposit/trend in world might have another, ADDITIONAL 40 million ounces of RESERVES.....We don't know but will learn in the coming years...
