The Macklowe Collection at Sotheby’s made auction history last November – becoming the most valuable single-owner auction ever staged. This spring, on 16 May 2022, Sotheby’s will offer a further 30 works from this celebrated collection. In this latest Sotheby’s video, Will Gompertz and Eleanor Nairne, Artistic Director and Curator, respectively, at the Barbican take us through some of the masterworks to be offered this spring, including those by Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, Sigmar Polke, Agnes Martin, Willem de Kooning, Pablo Picasso and Alberto Giacometti, among others.
