Deep Blue Marine Inc. Announces Discovery of Possible Ballast Pile
KEY WEST, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Deep Blue Marine (Pink Sheets: DPBM) is pleased to announce the possible discovery of a ballast pile/field near Woman Key in the area permitted by the FKNMS and issued to Kenneth Rose. A diagnostic sample was retrieved from the site and will undergo analysis in order to ascertain the type of rock and possible origin. The ballast pile/field is now being photographed and mapped by Deep Blue Marine divers. For more information visit the company’s weblog at www.alldeepblue.com/inthedeep.

Dr. Robert Baer, RPA, the project archaeologist, believes that the site is important for several reasons. First, the suspected ballast pile is near the seventeenth century anchor and associated artifact material described in the Deep Blue Marine press release of 10-02-06. Second, the suspected ballast pile is located approximately three quarters of a mile from Ballast Key, an island near the permitted area. The origin of the name Ballast Key is of unknown origin; it may be that, in the past, ballast was found on the island, or the present ballast pile under investigation may have been known in the past, and its proximity to the island resulted in the island being named Ballast Key. The Deep Blue Marine archaeological team will endeavor to answer these questions.
