If this is true - and it is yet to be established that brilacidin has ANY role in the fight against COVID-19, then IPIX will have several severe barriers to surmount.

For example:

An IV administration over five days is logistically a nightmare to administer. And very expensibve in terms of medical and paramedical time and resources.

The majority - upwards of 70% of pateinets will get peripheral neuropathy (mild in the small number of patients treated so far, but who knows what the incidence will be in a larger population?). This is not fun for asymptomatic patients who are receiving prophylaxis.

A significant number of patients will have elevated - in some cases very elevated - blood pressure when receiving brilacidin. Again the risk/benefit ratio has yet to be determined.
