Luc Montagnier, (born August 18, 1932, Chabris, France), French research scientist who received, with Harald zur Hausen and Francoise Barré-Sinoussi, the 2008 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine.
Montagnier and Barré-Sinoussi shared half the prize for their work in identifying the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the cause of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
