Thanks for your thoughts. I'm not setting any timetables like you have done.

Interest rate hikes will obviously have a negative effect on the market as a whole. But I would assume many investors are already taking that into account. Therefore, since interest rate hikes are already a given, I don't see them resulting in a "massive" or "major" correction by themselves.

I believe its going to take some unanticipated event that is both serious and having a global economic impact.

What could that be? Several possibilities, including a continued high rate of inflation (or even an accelerating rate of inflation) or a war or political/social instability in the US and perhaps elsewhere as well. These are just a few of the serious events that could result in a major correction.

Unfortunately all of these things are unpredictable, which is why I hesitate in trying to put a timeframe on any major market correction.
