Sorry for the random long post, but I had to share an idea for an example of some splashy PR I *wish* BigToken would announce along with the ticker change. To be clear, the following is pure fiction made up by me.
Would be interesting if BigTokens could be exchanged for 1 square foot of a special own-your-own-data metaverse zone. BigT does need to have a strategy for user data ownership in Web 3.0, so why not literal ownership of your own ‘land’ where your data lives and you could sell it to advertisers like a shop, either actively or passively. Our stock shares could be converted to real estate as well. Reverse split would just mean instead of a million square feet you have like a dozen acres or something like that, which should help tie the new share structure to something sensical and keep it from eroding back to zero. The R/S could also consolidate a shareholder’s disparate shares into a single contiguous tract, so that I didn’t own random useless scraps of property all over town from all the times I tried to average down. It would be nicely re-packaged in one big parcel, ready for development. I would probably convert at least half my shares into something like that immediately!
This optional conversion to virtual real estate could eliminate shares from circulation and allow people to monetize their holdings, as real estate demand could go up in such a user-data friendly zone. As opposed to Meta which is sure to sell your avatar’s every twitch to advertisers without you really knowing. It could also tie in well with the supposed BigT crypto wallet we have heard about.
Again, just a whacky idea I had late at night, no evidence of this plan anywhere. But it’s the kind of thing I hope BigToken has up their sleeve. And if some random person on ihub could think of it, surely there are smarter people who have thought of it too, or something even better. Here’s hoping they drop something cool soon, whatever it may be.
