We still don't know what dosages were used, right? All we can be sure of is that the FDA cleared them for a 3 day regimen and bumped it to 5 days based on an interim safety review.
Suppose he didn't want to take the time to do the testing that would have been required to get safety data on an injected or swallowed or snorted dose.
And suppose they got the go ahead based on the safety data from the B-ABSSSI trial(s), which was an IV dosed trial.

Consider the possibility that his goal was to conduct a trial, any trial.

I have affixed to me the dust and dirt of countless ages...who am I to disturb history?
