What else is expected they would say? They surely not going to say he has wild dreams and expectations but hasn't accomplished a damn thing.
How many boards has Mr. Dalton been on with partnerships with UNVC that he is now not on? There is a reason for that.

Maybe the conversation went like this?
"Thanks for coming in Dr. Dalton, we have great respect and admiration for you, however, you have been removed as aboard member"
