Be happy to after I get back home. Running a few errands now. However in short you are correct the land can't be sold and technically the claim can't be sold. But ownership can be transferred. In some cases as simple as a Quit Claim Deed. The new holder assumes the exclusive rights to the claim to explore/mine.

Patented claims went under Moratorium about 1980. So that's irrelevant here.
