Big Tech does not control DID’s
When uninformed people speculate about technical communications issues it tends to confuse others.
DID’S is the technical term for a plane old telephone number.
Which used to be called a pots line. Direct Inward Dialing is the new term given to a number assignment now called DID’s.
In November 2003 the FCC issued the WLNP which means
Wireless local number portability.
So that users could port their phone number to any carrier they wish to use.
The FCC felt that carriers exerted monopolistic policies by holding a user hostage by keeping their number and that practice was abolished by the regulators.
Big tech does not control phone numbers and never did!
