Although the government's focus on providing COVID-19 tests is late, I am glad it is a focus now. People, if they have symptoms, need to know if they have COVID or the flu as the treatments would be very different.
But to encourage everyone, even if they have no symptoms, to test for the virus is the wrong approach. One could test negative for the virus, then go have a coffee 10 minutes later and contract COVID.
We should be testing everyone for antibodies to the virus. Large testing centers like LabCorp can already do this. The government should mount a Warp Speed effort to develop home testing for antibodies. Then we would know our status in being able to fight off the virus. We would also know when we need a booster rather than depending on general public service warnings to boost after 6 months when the "science" already knows that levels of antibodies can vary greatly from person to person.
But this makes too much sense, I suppose.
