You can if you have $2.50 a share collateral to cover your trade and the right brokerage . So you would need to tie up $25,000 cash to short 10,000 shares . Which is why the short volume is hilarious. It's all just MM doing business as usual. Most all those shorts are closed daily . Short volume and short interest are two very different things . Short interest is only reported twice a month .
