In reality perhaps they really do short them. They do not do it correctly by first borrowing the shares. Instead they naked short illegally and the SEC does not enforce the rules. Is this any less risky?
Each stinky pinky has its detractors. I could never figure out why they are there. What. Is in it for them? They say they are doing altruistic service for naive new investors. Are people really so altruistic?
