Commissioner Nikki Fried spoke to CEO Nadav Kidron and encouraged the FDA to review oral covid vaccines as an alternative to injections.

One oral vaccine currently in development is Oravax, a new product of Israeli-American biomedical company Oramed Pharmaceuticals, and Premas Biotech, a manufacturer of biotherapeutic and vaccine technologies. I spoke this week with Oramed’s Florida-based chief executive, who expressed strong optimism about their vaccine’s potential effectiveness against COVID-19 variants, ease of administration and manufacturing, and excellent early safety data. I encourage the FDA to consider accelerated review of oral vaccine candidates, including those developed in high-technology nation such as Israel.
