Golden Telecom's WiFi Network in Moscow Reaches Final Test Phase

Golden Telecom (News - Alert), Inc., announced today that its Moscow WiFi network has entered into “beta test” mode, the last testing stage before the official commercial launch. The network is expected be fully functional early next year.

Golden Telecom is the foremost facilities-based integrated telecommunications and Internet services provider in Russia and other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (“CIS”). It offers voice, data as well as Internet services. Its users range from businesses to operators and individuals. Its metropolitan overlay networks cover major cities including Moscow, Kiev, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Alma Ata and Tashkent.

Golden WiFi (News - Alert) is the number one WiFi network in Europe in terms of spread. Among the world’s networks it is the second largest. Golden WiFi has an expanse of almost six thousand access nodes with the number rising by the day. In terms of number of access nodes, the network outdoes the major WiFi networks of San Francisco, Philadelphia and London. The network will get a major boost when its coverage extends across Moscow.

Users can get free of cost access to the Moscow WiFi network during the beta testing phase. All they need to get connected is to register for the service.

“Our Company is launching new WiFi services on the mass market in order to provide people with an opportunity to communicate with each other, work, and obtain the information they need no matter where they are, using state-of-the-art, effective and accessible technology,” observed Mr. Jean-Pierre Vandromme, Chief Executive Officer of Golden Telecom in a statement to the press.

“Any user can get online with Golden WiFi — and not just at home or at the office. You can find our access nodes at restaurants, cafes, and many other public places. Golden WiFi helps people keep in touch with one another,” he added.
