It does if you know you’re going to fail before you even start.

I strongly suspect they’d tested brilacidin in some animal models - it would be astonishing if they hadn’t done, if you think about it- and knew it wasn’t going to work.

So instead commission a cheap study (one of the reasons for choosing so many centers in Russia) in humans that looks vaguely plausible to your frankly uninformed shareholders and spin it out as long as possible to keep the gravy train on the rails as long as possible.

Then tip your toxic finance buddies the wink about the results a few days before you release the results so they can offload their cheap shares at reasonably high prices.

Makes a great deal more sense than all the ridiculous conspiracy theories about FDA and Big Pharma.

Occam’s Razor and all that.
