Yes. But in reality the shorts can’t all cover at the same price. So if AMC is $10 and shorts start to cover they will eventually run out of buyers at $10 and have to pay $11 and so on. And if it’s true that there are hundreds of millions or more of synthetic shares this process has to occur over and over.
