Buru Energy secures strategic deal for LNG development

Buru Energy Ltd CEO Thomas Nador talked with Proactive about the company’s newly announced strategic development agreement with Clean Energy Fuels Australia Pty Ltd (CEFA) to co-develop the Rafael Gas Project. Nador explained that CEFA brings strong midstream and downstream capabilities, backed by I Squared Capital, which manages around $40 billion in assets. "They bring the right credentials, to look after the downstream and midstream elements of the project," he said. Buru, meanwhile, will focus on the upstream side of the Rafael development. The deal is described as a “watershed moment” for the company, as it provides a clear pathway toward developing a long-term gas and condensate business in northwest Western Australia—an area currently dependent on imported energy. Under the agreement, CEFA will fund, build, and operate a small-scale LNG facility on-site, with Buru paying a processing fee over the life of the project. This significantly reduces Buru’s capital exposure to only the upstream infrastructure—namely, two wells, one of which is already in place. A final investment decision is expected in late 2025 or early 2026, with first cash flows anticipated in the second half of 2027. According to Nador, the projected annual free cash flow from the Rafael development is expected to surpass the company’s current market capitalization. This includes substantial investments across key defense technologies and a dedicated €150 billion credit facility to enhance military capabilities. “There’s going to be a lot of spending to come,” Edmondson noted, emphasizing major growth areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber defense, drone technology, and advanced artillery systems. She pointed out that leading European defense firms—including Rheinmetall, BAE Systems, Thales, Dassault, and Leonardo SPA—stand to benefit significantly from this expansion. Additionally, South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace is emerging as a key player in global defense contracts. In contrast, U.S. defense companies are experiencing headwinds due to budget cuts and canceled procurement deals, leading to a relative downturn in the sector. Canada and Portugal, for instance, are re-evaluating orders for U.S.-made F-35 fighter jets in favor of alternative options, such as aircraft from Dassault Aviation. FDA approval sees Orthocell’s Remplir enter multi-billion dollar US nerve market

Orthocell Ltd chairman John van der Wielen talked with Proactive about the company receiving FDA clearance for its nerve repair product, Remplir, paving the way for entry into the multi-billion US healthcare market. The approval marks a significant milestone in Orthocell’s international growth strategy and reflects the strength of its regulatory and clinical capabilities. Alkane hits high-grade gold at Tomingley

Alkane Resources Ltd managing director Nic Earner talked with Proactive about recent high-grade gold intercepts and ongoing resource expansion at the Tomingley gold operations in New South Wales. Earner detailed strong results from underground drilling at both the Caloma and Roswell zones, with intercepts showing multiple grams per tonne over substantial widths. “We’ve had some very, very high-grade hits… tens of metres at plus ten grams in Roswell,” he noted, highlighting the significant contribution these results will make to near-term reserve updates and future production planning. The company is confident these results will support mine life extensions well into the 2030s. Reserve and resource updates, including for Caloma One and Caloma Two, are expected in the August–September period, following analysis of the June 30 data. Earner also touched on Alkane’s recent financial performance, stating: “It’s been a great quarter… we had a great cash build,” helped by strong production and a high Australian-dollar gold price. He confirmed guidance remains on track, with 17,500 ounces produced and expectations of reaching 19,000 ounces by quarter end. Alkane continues to advance permitting for the highway relocation and is actively progressing exploration across both the Boda-Kaiser project and Tomingley region.
