Trucking article was interesting too. So if only a small percentage of trucks are allowed to pick up at the LA port, how screwed up does that make the logistics? Are there truck hubs just outside California where the eligible California trucks drop their loads and head back?
The driving 6.5 hours a day does not sound like much....but how much time do they spend cued up to load and/or unload? If they are running local trips that could add a lot of time because they are picking up and dropping off every few hours. Sometimes there are drivers in front of you waiting to drop and/or get loaded depending on the location, which can eat up a lot of time.
