Fujitsu, Transmeta tout LongRun2

By The Associated Press

(Electronic News) _ Transmeta Corp. http://www.transmeta.com and Fujitsu http://www.fujitsu.com will demonstrate what they claim are the power management advantages of Transmeta's LongRun2 technologies, licensed for use by Fujitsu http://www.edn.com/article/CA491595.html?partner=enews, at the DesignCon 2007 conference held this week in Santa Clara, Calif.

The demos will run on a device manufactured at Fujitsu's 300mm foundry in Mie, Japan http://www.edn.com/article/CA404636.html?partner=enews. In November, Fujitsu announced plans to add a second 300mm fab http://www.edn.com/article/CA6298597.html at its Mie plant, which is set to begin operations in April.

Transmeta claims that its LongRun2 technologies provide semiconductor manufacturers and chip designers with ways to reduce power consumption and reduce variations between chips by adjusting leakage dynamically. In addition to Fujitsu, the company has also licensed LongRun2 to Sony http://www.edn.com/article/CA498586.html?ref=nbra, NEC Electronics http://www.edn.com/article/CA6333899.html?partner=enews" target="_blank">http://www.edn.com/article/CA405758.html?partner=enewshttp://www.edn.com/article/CA6333899.html?part....
