Better method...
is to look at the die photo I linked to here:
http://www.lostcircuits.com/cpu/intel_penryn/3.shtml
If you measure things, adjust for the cache size difference, and assume cache shrinks by 50%, you get the logic portion shrinking by about 40%, and a final die size of between 110 and 120mm.
Seems pretty reasonable to me.
