If a company were working on a merger or acquisition with another company it would be rare that shareholders would hear anything about it before the deal was complete. Usually the shareholder finds out after the deal is complete in the morning before the stock opens.

If someone tries to convince you to buy a stock they usually have a personal agenda to do so. Not because they are concerned about you making money but about convincing you to buy so they can make money. Same is true for those yelling sell.
