ITRM demonstrated that their drug was better than cipro in patients resistant to cipro.

That alone makes ITRM's drug valuable. Given that resistance is a serious problem, I see no reason to deny access to a drug that WORKS!!!!.

The FDA kind of reasonably said they needed better data

I think the fact that it works in lieu of Cipro is VERY reasonable. You don't have a vast number of choices to pick from. Having one more drug in the armamentarium (even if it's ONLY as good as the current ones) is a good thing.

We know that drugs do interact with patients in a variety of ways. That fact alone makes it incumbent upon the FDA to make this drug available.
