I have really been digging into Paul's Epistle "ROMANS". I am using several reference materials, but mainly the Interpreter's Bible, these are studies which my father gave me and I am now 78 yr. old...so this is not modern day stuff, if I see it right the Copy Right is 1954, so it isn't yesterday stuff. My "MAJOR" problem is the guys who wrote the Interpreter's Bible constantly use $150 words, which led a person such as me to keep the dictionary right in front of me. Talk about speaking in tongues, lol...but each of those GREAT BIG words, once I understood the simple meaning, the Scripture offered new understanding to me....It is only a real shame that the Interpreter's Bible's introductions are not written for the every day common man to understand. I have no idea how many times I have read Romans and I have no idea how shallow my abilities to understand were. I do keep in mind that what is written is how a person understands Romans, it is just their opinion-----real clarity comes from the Holy Spirit, which the author also teaches.....But I have hi-lited more than I have ever hi-lited before, I have studied more than I have ever studied before, not to sure if I have learned a lot or not or maybe just a little.....the bottom line is Romans is a book on Doctrine. Sin was explained to me different than I ever understood before, we are born in sin, we live in sin, we practice sin every day, we may not want to, we may not admit we are sinful, but the fact is we are, we live in it and we practice sin. Anyway, my study has helped me to understand how to cope with all my short-comings....doesn't mean I can do what I want, but does help me to understand and deal with my nasty side. A couple things to stir up your minds:

1--FREEDOM is not the right to do whatever we wish----but the power to become what we were
intended to be

2--Those who respond to God's call in Christ found that Salvation was not a matter of future hope but of
present experience

Have a real good afternoon & God Bless
