Can someone explain the difference between
Authorized shares, and outstanding shares.

on pink sheets.com the authorized shared for avxn is 400 000 000 and the outstanding is 365 000 000. But according to their last press release, they will reaqcuire about 80 000 000 shares reducing the float by 42% meaning it was originally at about
190 000 000. So are the out standing share 365 mil or 190 mil. A bit confused. If any one can shed some light on this issue it will be apprecaited.
