I believe that Brilacidin was bench tested with stomach, gastric,contents to determine tolerability. After 4 hours it was determined that B tolerated the environment well. The results were released in a PR in 1/19. This was “pure” B and not the “elegant” engineered Oralogic B. I have not seen any evaluation of systemic absorption of B broken down in the stomach and proximal small intestine where most pills are absorbed. The “elegant” Oralogic B is released in the distal SI and colon where we are not expecting significant systemic absorption and which if fact was born out in labs. It seems to me that we may want to compound B, unelegantly, to release into the stomach and SI and determine if systemic absorption takes place and how much. But maybe I am just wrong. Maybe DeGrado is working on the tweak of the formula now if that is what needs to be done. My idea seems too simple and low level to work. Or maybe developing a pill would be bad for the franchise and Leo is electing to forgo that route. Could come down to “money”. Maybe someone on the board can email Dr D the question of whether or not B is a candidate for oral delivery?
