AIMstudent,

1. The "initial Buy (%)" at 100. Does that mean when this position was opened the entire allocation would have been to by shares with no initial allocation to cash?

Yes. With X_DEV you have the flexibility to start the investment or trade with any initial amount you choose. Of course if you choose a 100% initial vest you want to have a very high conviction that you are getting in at the low of the current trend and a reversal to an uptrend is a high odds probability. Otherwise it is "safer" to use a lower % vest and let X_DEV work the play as it will.

2. The "Upper Band (%)" and "Lower Band (%)" values. How are these initially determined for a new position? How often are they optimized? How are they optimized? When are they optimized?

For a full detailed explanation you can take a look at the X_DEV user manual here: X_DEV User Manual

The short version to your questions are...
You set the bands to intersect the very tops of the high price band and the very lows of the low price band. This is easily done by viewing the chart.

They only have to be optimized very infrequently and in very small amounts. I play with the multiples once a week or so, just for fun...lol! But there is no standard time frame unless you notice a huge change in trend. Dramatic trend shifts usually are a good signal that a optimization may be necessary. Use the smallest increments to optimize until you can no longer achieve a higher return. At that point you know you are at full optimization.

Let me know if you need anything else.
