A study found 18F-FES PET imaging may help health care providers make treatment decisions in cases with clinical dilemmas, such as when patients with breast cancer have estrogen receptor expression that varies between tumors or when biopsies cannot be safely performed, researchers reported. "18F-FES PET has the potential to visualize the ER expression of all tumors across the body and could provide helpful information regarding clinical dilemmas in breast cancer patients," said researcher Dr. Carolina Schroder.
