a few days ago. Some pertains to Rosneft/Gazprom politics in Kremlin re Miller and sechin (siloviki). Yes original plan was to merge Gazprom and Rosneft:

http://www.cdi.org/russia/johnson/9185-10.cfm

"The siloviki's end goal is to bring top oil companies LUKoil, Sibneft, Surgutneftegaz and Transneft, as well as electricity monopoly Unified Energy Systems, into a single energy behemoth, the report said."

"The liberals are working to rein in the tax service, the report said, while the lawyers have successfully fended off the siloviki's bid to take control of Gazprom."

What's happeming at Russneft is really interesting. Russneft had an angel, and it might be gone now - - or perhaps this is a "warning shot" not to mess with Gazprom.

We need to keep in mind that russneft won the czech tender for transpetrol - - NWOG very angry about that - - hope here is that Russneft would lose the former Yukos property and that NWOG would get it. The one refinery in belarus mentioned in article pertains to the latvian terminal deal - - in that oil products refined in Belarus are to be transported from that terminal, some idea that same Carlyle fund that bought the refineries in Belgium and that represented Carlyle in its joint bid with NWOG would also attempt to buy the refineries in BelaRus.

There's something odd about this tax situation that could cut both ways for NWOG. Either 1. the sponsors in kremlin are losing power 2. tax man coming for NWOG also or . . .

1. Russneft was a dummy corp all along, a proxy so ROSneft (the siloviki) could fight with Miller at Gazprom through third party - - a way to get hold of assetts like Transpetrol ect. without attracting attention. Slavneft important to study here. Don't forget the relationship of Sibneft, Rosneft, obneftegazgeolgiya to Slavneft, not to mention BP/TNK (Onako, Tyumen Oil company, alpha all mixed up with slavneft prior to BP mergers).
