GT, as stated in my previous Post #45338, the reason why 1 Kg of hydrogen equals to 2 gallons of gasoline is simply due to the fact that a fuel cell vehicle will travel the same distance on 1 Kg of hydrogen, as an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicle on 2 gallons of gasoline. As proof look at the following specs for the 2021 Honda Clarity fuel cell vehicle, it can travel 360 miles on 5.46 Kg of hydrogen (source https://automobiles.honda.com/clarity-fuel-cell/specs-features-trim-comparison). A highly efficient ICE vehicle may be able to travel 360 miles on 11 gallons of gasoline (while the Honda Clarity hydrogen vehicle uses 5.46 Kg), thus 1kg of hydrogen = 2 gallons of gasoline.
