I agree with you, however, that this could scare off subscribers to the new shares. They will look very closely at how the government has dealt with the old shareholders over the past 13 years, because something similar would be likely after the next housing crisis (if one comes). The new subscribers are not voluntarily going to get slaughtered.



Reminds me of what I read this morning in todays Washington Post:

"Hijrat said he heard many Afghans who worked with foreign organizations are too scared to return to work because for years the Taliban considered them legitimate military targets. But he said he didn't understand why they don't believe the Taliban's pledge that anyone who asks for amnesty will be forgiven regardless of their previous employment.

."

Has this partnership with the federal government of private capital in a 1st loss position been harmed beyond repair?

When government sponsored enterprises unnecessarily spend 13+ years in a bogus nationalization, is "Trust the government IT'S DIFFERENT THIS TIME!" actually credible?
