Old wounds. They were in it back in the 2018 run. They're just trying to warn others. Also most likely opened a short position. It's what I would have done in that situation. Especially given John's track record.

But trip 1s are tasty and soon won't be a thing so why not. Sometimes being an idiot > logical reasoning.
