Thanks for running some numbers. I come up with some different results. First I get a die size of 101mm2

Plugging that into the yield model:

gives only 253 total raw die and an average of 197 good die per wafer if AMD actually has world class yields, even higher if they have the "best yields in the world" as Jerry Sanders has claimed.

Using 4950 wafer starts per week, which is 90% of the wafer start capacity in my estimation, we get about 12.5 million good die per quarter if all they were producing was Bartons. Obviously that's not their only product now so some capacity goes to Hammer products. How their capacity is split is open to speculation. The previous product thoroughbred at 84mm2 should have had a potential output of over 16 million good die per quarter. So why have we never seen more than half that output if we are to believe the claims of "the best yields in the world"? Perhaps AMD does really have the best yields and it's just that there isn't much demand for their products?
