This is the first time I've heard that applied to growing Cannabis, but I would assume it's similar to small-batch beer, small-batch sausages, or anything else produced in small batches.
Supposedly, when you produce any commodity in small-batches, you're able to produce a product of higher quality using better control methods and more attention to detail.
Higher quality products, produced in smaller batches usually results in a premium price for those products.
Just my HO, of course...
