Funny what a difference one simple word makes...

The higher the SI ratio, the theoretically more effective and safe a drug would be during in vivo treatment for a given viral infection.



Why didn't the author you cite make the declarative statement:

The higher the SI ratio, the more effective and safe a drug would be during in vivo treatment for a given viral infection.

Why the need for that all-important qualifier theoretically? Would it be because its omission would result in a false and misleading conclusion?
