State OKs Merck Deal--yahooooooo!
On Thursday, the Board of Governors of Florida's State University System unanimously approved the formation of a private, for-profit drug-development company through a partnership between Merck & Co. and the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa at the University of South Florida. The company, to be called M2Gen Inc., will develop a tumor-tissue database that Merck and Moffitt hope will lead to tailor-made therapies for cancer patients.

M2Gen has agreed to generate 165 to 170 scientific and technical jobs paying an average salary of $80,000.
