WHO Pissed at U.S' "Me-First" Policy W/unvaccinated Countries

U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy defended the Biden administration's plans to begin rolling out booster shots for many Americans the week of Sept. 20, despite criticism from the World Health Organization and others that the U.S. should not offer booster shots to Americans while many countries lag in vaccine access.

"We have to protect American lives and we have to help vaccinate the world because that is the only way this pandemic ends," Murthy told ABC "This Week" co-anchor Martha Raddatz.

US secures world stock of key Covid-19 drug remdesivir
No other country will be able to buy remdesivir, which can help recovery from Covid-19, for next three months at least

Quote:
Buying nearly all the remdesivir supply for the next three months follows a familiar pattern. The US invested $1.2 billion in AstraZeneca’s Oxford vaccine candidate, which would ensure access to 300 million doses. Before that, the government stockpiled millions of doses of hydroxychloroquine, and it’s now stuck with 63 million units that it can’t use for COVID-19 since the FDA revoked permission for the drug.

The US has spent more than $2 billion on monoclonal antibody treatment doses.

The U.S. "Me-First" COVID policy started under Trump, but it appears Biden has quickly co-signed onto the policy...and for good reason.

The U.S. economy is the largest in the world (GDP=$22T) and that means we have the most to lose from shutting down our economy because of COVID-19. In fact, the world's top 5 economies (U.s.,China,Japan, Germany and India) in nominal terms, have more than 50% of the global-nominal GDP of roughly $94T.

https://statisticstimes.com/economy/world-gdp.php

This why these and other countries are hoarding vaccines and COVID therapeutics and it should surprise no one that these countries will continue their "ME-First" policies because, other than deaths, they have the most to lose if their economies are shutdown. The WHO is "spitting in the wind" trying to combat this and with little to no success.

Leo should have the B-COVID FDA-EUA application already prepared, only needing P-2 results and his signature, and ready to deliver to the FDA for a process that appears to take from 6-8 weeks.

Leo should already have potential domestic BP partners, with large mfg capacities, standing-by, ready to crank up production when the U.S Government comes-a-callin' and spending billion$ for the purpose of monopolizing B-COVID for our economy, public health and national defense. Remember this is the "pattern."

The unintended consequence of these "Me-First" policies will be the creation of COVID variants in the two-thirds of the world that is presently unvaccinated. These new variants are already threatening the efficacy of our vaccines and this could make B-COVID even more valuable/desireable, especially if B-COVID has a post-infection, prophylactic property.

If past is prologue,Leo will sign billion dollar U.S. Government contracts roughly two months after receiving a B-COVID EUA.

Regeneron is supplying it's monoclonal antibodies to the U.S., while its partner, Roche, will supply the rest of the world and this seems like a good model to follow...BUT...for the moment,Leo, let's focus on getting the "bird in the hand". We can get the ones in the "bushes" later.

P.S. Remember, the U.S. Government has purchased billions of dollar of remdesevir that's been stockpiled and probably getting very little use. Considering the high-efficacy of the B-COVID/remdesevir combo, I think the U.S. Government will find B-COVID even more appealing.

Based on ALL the evidence surrounding "B",my presumption is that B-COVID will pass EUA muster. The TV weatherman/woman gathers all the meteorological data and make a prediction as to what they think the future weather will be. Sometimes their wrong as I could be wrong...but most of the time their right.
