Landmines To Be Detected On Capitol Hill
Market Wire, September, 2000

U.S. Capitol Police officers are preparing for an unusual event this week as a revolutionary breakthrough in landmine detection technology is demonstrated on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. On Wednesday, September 13 at 1:30 p.m., officers will bury samples of the most common landmine explosives, TNT, PETN and RDX for a new device, called ELF (Eliminate Landmines Forever), to discover and identify. ELF was developed by Loch Harris, Inc. after nearly five years of research and development. Following successful testing in Croatia, the ELF technology has now been proven ready for international deployment. (five years, right when Sandia published their research on the technology and Blair, Poteet and Cauthen were reportedly working closely with the lab.)

Every year, 26,000 innocent people are killed or maimed by land mines each year, with nearly 10,000 of these victims being children. U.S. Representative Ron Klink (D-PA), sponsor of the demonstration, issued a letter recently urging his colleagues in the House of Representatives to get involved in the efforts to find a solution. "I urge you to attend this demonstration of a technology that could help save the lives of countless people around the world." www.house.gov/apps/list/press/pa04_klink/elf.html

Loch Harris CEO Rodney Boone says while governments work to ban the use and production of landmines, resources must be allocated eliminate existing mines. "According to the American Red Cross there are more than 110 million landmines in over 80 countries," said Boone. "Many of these landmines exist in regions where mine fields are unmapped and have been indiscriminately placed...every 22 minutes, an innocent civilian dies from a landmine explosion. ELF will save lives from deadly landmines and restore communities in Mozambique, Cambodia, Vietnam and other affected countries around the world!"

Frank Gaffney, Director for the Center for Security Policy, says the situation in the Balkans is critical. "What you have here is the systematic, indiscriminate extermination of innocent people in the Balkans." Frank Jakovac, a humanitarian and Croatian-American, added that U.S. support is important to the success of landmine removal. "As Americans, we have an obligation to utilize our resources to help solve many of the world's critical issues. Once again, American technology (ELF) is there to help solve this potentially catastrophic world problem."

ELF combines X-ray and florescent technologies in a portable device to identify landmines and recognize the type of explosive materials. It can reach out to three meters and several feet underneath soil or water. Currently, mine sweepers probe the earth, inch by inch, with metal rods looking for landmines. In Croatia, where landmines have claimed tens of thousands of lives, authorities estimate it will take 100 years to eliminate all of the landmines in its countryside. Utilizing ELF technology, professional landmine personnel state they could significantly reduce the quantity of landmines in less than five years. ELF will be demonstrated at the "Triangle" on the southeast, House side of the U.S. Capitol, Wednesday, September 13 at 1:30 p.m. EDT. All media and interested parties are encouraged to attend.

I still believe that the landmine crisis trumps the counterfeir drug crisis, the bad booze crisais, the liquid med checker (wrong drug crisis) and the meth detector for the speed freak crisis.

How any honest investor can still take these scamsters for their word is beyond my comprehension. Of course. there are some that don't give a sheet about who gets caught holding the bag, they are only interested in making a buck, ("watch the volume").
