I like just flipping open my Bible and see if there is something neat there....This morning it opened to Colossians 4 and this was previously hi-lited, but in John MacArthur"s foot-notes he best explains:

Colossians 4:5-6
New King James Version

"Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." vcgf

John"s notes:
those outside refers to the unbelievers---Believers are called to so live that they establish the credibility
of the Christian faith and that they make the most of every evangelistic opportunity. WITH GRACE---To speak what is spiritual, wholesome, loving, and thoughtful. SEASONED WITH SALT--Just as salt not only flavors, but prevents corruption, the Christian's speech should not act only as a blessing to others, but a purifying influence within a decaying society of the world.

Reckon there is some stuff in there I need to work on. The very end of John's notes here, "within a decaying society"----got me to thinking on our world here in 2021 and all that our country is going through, but I wonder if maybe the professing Christian's salt has lost its flavoring abilities and the ability to prevent corruption has or is slipping away. I am not judging here, just say'n.

Matthew 5:13
New King James Version
Believers Are Salt and Light --(this here is Jesus speaking)

13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

I think back somewhere I ran across this subject and it was explained that back in Bile times when salt lost its qualities it was tossed out in the pathways and folks walked on it, of course much more on this, but you sort of get my point-----But as a Christian I can't help but wonder. I did did make mention that there were some things here I need to work on. I wonder if it may apply to other Christians today? Jus say'n

God Bless
