No. Not quite. FnF will be collecting 10 basis points on the mortgages they purchase and send this money to the government. This makes the mortgages homeowners get more expensive by the same amount. Now that the fifty basis points forbearance fee has gone, I was hoping it would be replaced by a smaller increase 10 to 20 basis points that would directly benefit Fannie and Freddie. The more they collect on behalf of the government is the less they can charge on their own behalf. So, it's not NWS, but it hinders their revenues and capitalization.
