blauboad, Elmer, that is the key question - what is the real wafer capacity of Dresden? Way back when AMD was running Fabs 25 & 30 for processors, there was a working assumption that all of Dresden would be available for production. Some guesses were made as to the total wafer start capability, and I think that is where Elmer gets his start.

However, now that Fab 30 is the only processor fab, AMD has to keep sections of it down for new process & product development and deployment. "Full capacity" is relative to the space which can be devoted to mass production.

No one has been able to come up with a confident number for the number of wafer starts one can expect from Fab 30 since. Therein lies the problem.
